For some twenty five years he has been involved with Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, as a Business Coach, Business Doctor and Mentor, Executive Director/Outside Director, helping them grow and become better at what they do; he has also run his own businesses in sectors such as construction, leisure and hospitality, finance, marketing, business development and training.
An excellent generalist consultant, his strengths are in organisational structure, "Form and Function" and the development of people, his main qualifications are in Human Resource Development and Management. He is also a member of the International Committee for the Slovak Committee for Scientific Management, and has acted as contributor and Peer Review panel member for the Academic Journal "Human Resource Development International" (Routledge - London).
He is highly creative and specialises in generating creativity and innovation with businesses large or small, and in the processes for implementing and adapting to Knowledge Development; Decision Support and Management Systems to maintain competitive edge.
David relates easily to all levels of an organisation with a relaxed style that motivates, engages people and delivers on the "bottom line". He has tremendouse knowledge and experience in winning EC and National Funding Programmes for business and product development and lectures on Creative Problem Solving, Innovation Generation and Practical Business Planning. " David is the Regional Spokesperson for, and Special Advisor to, the Federation of Small Businesses - North West Area Policy Unit on Education, Training and Business Support and was recently appointed to the Strategic Board of the Digital Development Network for Cumbria. His focus is on the overall strategy for integrating technology and the internet into a business and he gets involved in building their Cumbria Business Portal websites both for our own company and for clients.
Loraine has a wide range of Managerial and Administrative experience having worked in Small and Medium sized Enterprises, Large Organisations and self-employment. With experience in System Support, Customer Care & Retention, Knowledge Development and Project Management. She leads seminars and workshops on a variety of subjects either under the Artemis Media banner or on a sub-contract basis.
She spent five years working at BAE Systems (Marine). During this period she was involved in a number of committees/workgroups including Health and Safety, and developed a number of core databases to assist in project completion. Loraine develops our interactive Training Books/CD's and Handbooks available on our publications list.
She is involved in developing the Project Management area of our Software Tool/Methodology and has experience in managing EC Funded R&D Project Proposals, TCS and Smart bids.
As a partner in a previous Go Digital Programme (FEEDIT Project), Loraine successfully project managed a series of seminars for SME's in the Food Sector aimed at eBusiness awareness and the Web delivering seminars to 169 businesses (the target was for 50 businesses to attend).
Current study includes a BSc in Applied Psychology. A book of her training materials on 'Managing Information and Communications' has been published by FENC the Further Education National Consortium for use in FE colleges and schools and she is writing 'Project Management for SME's' with David Birchall. Loraine was trained by the Applied Knowledge Research Institute in the process of Structural Knowledge Auditing which examines knowledge gaps and learning dependency within an organisation and creates a prioritised visual map of the areas where gaps are identified.
Loraine is very adept at the strategy and construction of effective and highly functional websites, with a particular interest in Accessibility / Usability and has a gift for search engine optimisation techniques which benefit our customers. She is a self-taught in HTML, CSS, XML. XHTML, and other programming languages and thrives on a wide variety of work, and never refuses a challenge. Loraine and David have both been registered and qualified under the Technology Means Business scheme but chose not to retain this accreditation due to a lack of awareness in the market place.
